Because we know many of you will be in town over break, we have provided opportunities to volunteer. We also are taking advantage of the fact that kids have mornings off, so many events are scheduled during the day.
Next week we will be busy sharing some kindness with our local senior citizens. We have two dates lined up to help serve lunch at Daybreak Adult Day Care Center. The kids really enjoy practicing their wait staff skills last time we were there. Our volunteers are able to show so much warmth by doing little deeds during their visits. They help serve drinks, set the tables, offer clothing protectors (they also help put them on the lunch bunch) and serve the meal. The kids sing and share stories with everyone making this a joyful afternoon for these folks.
We are extending our Meals On Wheels participation with a booth atThe Market at Lakewood Ranch. We will be partnering with Little Genuises to create a “Make One, Take One” craft – you make one for someone else and you take another home. We are inviting kids to make place mats for our friends at Daybreak! Little Geniuses will provide you with the opportunity to make a place mat for yourself. We hope you can come and check out the market and create a masterpiece with us!

Don’t forget to paint some rocks over winter break! We are partnering with the Lakewood Ranch Kindness Project and are collecting painted rocks to add to the gardens at Big Cat Habitat. You can drop your finished artwork off at Cowork or Ed’s Tavern, both on Lakewood Ranch’s Main Street. Collection boxes will be there through January 2nd!
